Monteagudo Castle

Murcia Cathedral


James I the conqueror took the city of Murcia in 1266 after quelling the Mudéjar uprising. Until that time the city had been majority Muslim for the mentioned Treaty al Alcaraz. The monarch visited the main mosque or Alijama. The building of the mosque dedicated to Christian worship since then, was not converted into a cathedral until 1291.
